13 DAY – CAPE TOWN, SABI SAND, CHOBE & VICTORIA FALLS

Day 1: CAPE TOWN 

Welcome to South Africa. A country teaming with Africa's wildlife, a land with friendly and diverse cultures. A contrast between traditional homesteads and vibrant modern cities. On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you are met and transferred to your hotel.  Time to relax after your long flight.

Day 2: CAPE TOWN  (B)

After lunch we explore all the "must-sees" of Cape Town. A geographical & cultural experience, showing you Cape Town, from its historical beginnings to the dazzling modern shopping malls of the Waterfront.

Today's highlights:

  • Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting)
  • City Centre
  • Castle of Good Hope
  • South African Museum
  • The Company Gardens
  • Bo-Kaap - Traditional Malay Quarter
  • Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (S.A's most visited attraction)

Day 3: CAPE PENINSULA (B)

Today we continue to explore the area. An unforgettable journey to the mythical meeting place of the two great oceans. Breathtaking scenic beauty contrasts with the harsh rugged conditions of the most south-westerly edge of the African continent.

Day 4: WINELANDS   (B) 

After breakfast, you will be picked up with your luggage for your day tour. 

Travel through the spectacular mountain scenery and lush fertile valleys of the Cape. Taste a mixture of fascinating history and allow yourself to indulge in the pleasures of the renowned Cape Winelands.

You will visit selected wine estates on the 3 main wine routes. We have set our criteria for selection of wine estates, high standards of winemaking, historical and architectural significance, picturesque environment and visitor friendliness.

Day 5: CAPE TOWN – SABI SAND (B / D)

After breakfast you are transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Johannesburg, from where you fly to Kruger/Mpumalanga Airport. On arrival you are met and transferred to your lodge.

Day 6/7:  SABI SAND (B / L / D)

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is renowned for having the best Big Five game-viewing in South Africa, if not the world. Located on the southwestern corner of the Kruger National Park, there are no restricting fences, thus enabling the animals to roam freely just as nature intended.

The Reserve is famous for its incredible leopard sightings. The Sabi Sand leopards have grown accustomed to safari vehicles, thereby permitting close up sightings and extraordinary photographic opportunities.

Optional Hot Air Ballooning: An early start. We make our way to the Hot Air Balloon launch site. Upon arrival at the launch site, tea, coffee and biscuits are served and you have a chance to take pictures of the preparation of the balloon for flight. Relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The balloon floats over small hills and hidden valleys. The distant views to the west are of the mountains – God’s Window is clearly visible from the “other” side. The views to the east are of the land gradually flattening out towards the horizon, with the Sabie River winding its way towards the sunrise. The vegetation is a mix of riverine forest, indigenous bush and fruit orchards, and the sub-tropical climate ensures that the area is green and lush almost all year round. This is a beautiful ballooning venue!

 On landing we serve Cape sparkling wine to celebrate the flight in the champagne ballooning tradition. Fruit juice and bottled water are also available.After the flight join the pilot for breakfast at a country lodge, and for the presentation of flight certificates.

Day 8:  THE PANORAMA ROUTE (B)

After breakfast we depart Sabi Sand, We explore the Three Rondavels, Bourkes Luck Potholes, and some of the spectacular waterfalls found in the region.

Optional Shangaan Village:After lunch you have the option to visit a Shangaan village and see the different facets of the Shangaan way of life, including their history and customs, initiation ceremonies, the practice of polygamy, the outfits and weapons of masocho (warriors), the construction of homes, ornate beadwork clothing, and the preparation of food. Guests are encouraged to touch, feel and participate in what is happening in the village. Visit the mystical kraal of the Sangoma (traditional healer). The Sangoma explains different mutis (medicines) and may throw his bones on request. He is a registered member of the Traditional Healers' Association, so the advice he gives is serious!

Elephant Interaction: All elephants are rescued African Elephants. Elephants are exercised and stimulated daily, which provides a firm foundation for trust. These animals are highly intelligent and delightful: you will discover a different character, personality and temperament within each one. Learn a lot about elephants get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals.

Transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.

Day 9: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (B / D)

On arrival at the Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia) airport you are met and transferred to your lodge.
On Botswana's far northern border lies the Kwando, Linyanti and Chobe river system forming a series of lakes, islands and floodplains. This area forms the Chobe National Park, famous for its large buffalo and elephant herds. In addition to a variety of predators, there is an abundance of wild game and bird life which decorate these beautiful waterways.

Day 10: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (B / L / D)

Exploring Chobe National Park. Morning and afternoon game activities.

Day 11: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK - VICTORIA FALLS (ZAMBIA / ZIMBABWE)  (B)

After breakfast you are transferred to Victoria Falls.

This afternoon you have a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River. The total cruise time is approximately 3 hours. Enjoy the special atmosphere as the sun sets beneath the African sky. Sightings of elephant, giraffe and even rhino coming down to the river to drink are common. There is also an abundance of hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife.

Day 12: VICTORIA FALLS (ZAMBIA / ZIMBABWE)  (B) 

This morning you will have a tour of both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides of the Falls.  A natural phenomenon and one of the seven natural Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls is an immense curtain of water cascading over 100m. Around 550 million litres over the lip every minute, at peak flow this increases to 750 million litres.

Around the Falls is a rainforest sustained by the spray of the Falls with some plant species rarely found elsewhere in Zambia or Zimbabwe.

During peak flow (January to June) the Zambian side of the Falls is the most spectacular and there are walkways to look out points and across the swaying Knife Edge bridge.

  • The guide will accompany you· During high water visitors can get wet at the Falls, raincoats are advisable (available for hire) and cameras should be sealed in plastic bags
  • Transfers to/from your hotel are included

Day 13: VICTORIA FALLS (ZAMBIA / ZIMBABWE) - JOHANNESBURG   (B)
